#BREAKING NEWS: Schools Cannot Open Again Until Safety Is Sure – FG
The federal government declares that schools cannot open again until there is a sure fact that students and staff would be safe from Coronavirus disease
Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, revealed this at the Covid-19 presidential Taskforce briefing done on Thursday.
Answering to claims that school would start again in two weeks time, Nwajiuba disproved it, hammering that reopening would depend on the recommendations of the relevant agencies, particularly the Covid-19 Presidential Taskforce.
“Reopening of school
has a lot to do with national governance.
“When they determine that there is a measure of safety that would not endanger our children, then we can begin to reopen,” he added.
He said that government was in touch with experts in the field across the globe, on the issues.
“We must ensure that our children would go in and come out safe without being infected,” he added.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, had earlier said that there were more than 6,000 covid-19 cases in the country and 200 deaths.
